Acknowledgement of Country

"At Flinders View Primary and Pre-School we acknowledge the Barngarla people as the traditional owners of the land on which we meet.

We pay our respect to all elders -past, present, and future for they hold the memories, cultural traditions and hopes of Aboriginal Australia.

We further acknowledge the contributions of both Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal Australians to the education of all children and young people"

    About Flinders View Primary School

Flinders View Primary School was opened in 1983 and caters for students from Preschool to Year 7. It is located in Port Augusta, amidst the picturesque view of the Flinders Ranges.

Our Vision of “Learning together for a better future” is fostered in all aspects of school life and drives our commitment to high expectations and the building of strong and collaborative working relationships with our students, families and the wider community. This is recognised as a major factor supporting our ability to respond constructively to students needs.

As a school community, we aim to create an environment, which is safe and caring by providing quality teaching and learning opportunities for all. We strive to improve student achievement through the use of high impact strategies, a culturally inclusive curriculum and a culture of continuous improvement. Addressing reconciliation is also important to the future success of all students at the school.

We have a strong emphasis on Literacy, Numeracy and Wellbeing for Learning. The Play is the Way social skills program and restorative justice practices are implemented across the school to help students develop social and emotional skills. Targetted reading and maths intervention programs help to accelerate progress and success for all. The school is proud of its commitment in providing a wide variety of programs and activities.

We offer a number of specialist programs, which include Health & PE, Design & Tech, Digital Technologies, Science and the Adnyamathanha (Aboriginal Language) program to all students across R-7.

The school has a wide range of facilities to support our students, including a well-resourced refurbished Library, Gymnasium, computer and technologies suite, Wellbeing Room and well maintained school grounds and play spaces.

Governing Council work together to provide a strong voice toward assisting with the direction of the school and improved learning outcomes.

A parent group, Learning together program and Play group bring families and community into the school.

We provide a preschool educational program located in the Early Years building which provides a safe, secure and positive environment for the children and their families. This valuable educational program provides a smooth transition into the school and continuity of learning for our preschool children.
